ABSTRACT

The fast growth of Generative artificial intelligence has created new challenges for programming code education in higher education. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Codeium, and Amazon Code Whisperer can now automatically write, explain and fix code by given instructions. These tools help students in handling coding task, tough ideas and to complete their task. Generative AI tool has reduced the student’s problem-solving time by generating code on demand. Teachers has also benefits by using of Generative AI tools to create interesting assignments, show more coding examples and help students with different skill levels. In this paper, the different kinds of generative AI tools used in programming how they affect student learning, and suggests ways to use them wisely and effectively in programming education.
