ABSTRACT
Ethical considerations are fundamental to the integrity and credibility of nursing research, where the protection of human dignity, autonomy, and privacy is paramount. As nursing studies increasingly involve direct interaction with patients and sensitive personal data, the ethical imperative to safeguard participants' rights becomes more crucial than ever. This review explores the key ethical principles guiding nursing research, including respect for persons, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. It emphasizes the necessity of obtaining informed consent, ensuring voluntary participation, and maintaining strict confidentiality and data protection. Special attention is given to the inclusion of vulnerable populations, who require additional safeguards against exploitation or harm. The role of Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and ethical oversight committees is discussed in ensuring that research protocols meet established ethical standards before and during implementation. Moreover, the review addresses challenges faced by nurse researchers, such as cultural sensitivities, ethical dilemmas in fieldwork, and the evolving landscape of digital health data. It also underscores the importance of ethical competence and training for nursing researchers, advocating for continuous education in research ethics. By reinforcing these ethical imperatives, nursing research can uphold professional values, protect participant rights, and contribute responsibly to scientific advancement and patient-centered care.
