ABSTRACT

This paper compares educational achievement between rural and urban women in Jharkhand and analyzes its wider social implications. Education is a significant agent of social transformation, and women's access to it has a significant bearing on their socio-economic status, employment, health awareness, and empowerment in general. The study delves into the differences between urban and rural areas through an examination of the educational qualifications, employment, and social achievements of 600 women participants (300 rural and 300 urban) through a mixed-method approach. Stratified random sampling was utilized to cover a wide range of socio-economic groups. Statistical measures and thematic analysis were applied to evaluate the role of educational attainment, employment, and residence in determining societal growth. The results indicate a high association between women's education and positive social outcomes, with urban women tending to have higher levels of education and more participation in society than rural women. Yet the research also finds that there are still enduring obstacles like poverty, cultural barriers, and poor infrastructure that hold back rural women's education. The study emphasizes the importance of well-targeted policies and community intervention to minimize the rural-urban educational divide and foster inclusive growth.

Key words: Educational Attainment, Rural Women, Urban Women, Societal Impact.
